"Using 'Power Curves' to Assess Industry Dynamics".
What this statistical analysis shows is that the more an industry progresses, the more the wealth generated is concentrated in the hands of fewer and fewer companies, which creates a "Long Tail" type of structure just like the music industry: a couple of "Top Hits" and many smaller companies having a small share of the audience.
