I went to the Startup camp 2008 event tonight and stayed for the first 3 presentations. They were:
- Patrick Lor, the founder of iStock, who has successfully sold his company for $50 million. He talked about VC pitches
- George, one of the founders of Smart Hippo, a site that provides you with the best mortgage deal possible
- Bruno, one of the founders of DokDok, a document and version management software that banks on people not changing their habits of sending files by emails rather than create them and sharing them in the cloud
George's presentation was very strong, he is backed by a very impressive board, including the CEO of FOX property investments. Bruno on the other hand, had trouble putting forth the real value of his product: seamless storage and version control.
However Bruno is a sole owner and creator, so he mentioned that he was looking for partners, therefore I have offered to meet him in order to evaluate a possible collaboration between DokDok and communologi. More to follow...
